The Design Process For CMS Websites

When we build your website, you can decide the amount of technical control you want to be able to have over your site.

“CMS” stands for “Content Management System”, and it does just that. If you’re new to computers and websites and all that jazz, for starters we’ll limit your control panel access to a level that enables you to post, edit, and delete news articles and images on your news or blog main page, but leave the look and function of your overall website untouched. CMS isn’t the only way to build a website, but it is the most requested, so we’ve made it the main choice. See our Adobe Flash™ page if graphic presentation is your #1 priority.

If you’re an advanced user or former coder, you might want access to your CSS stylesheets, header page properties, or more because you know and understand CSS and HTML and want to make edits on this level.

Somewhere in between? Read on. We have three preset user levels that can be customized to suit your needs.

Give your staff, friends, or even the public limited access to your site on many levels; create and delete your own e-mail addresses @your domain (up to 200!) via simple interfaces.

User interfaces for most of the CMS sites we build are similar to the one on the left by WordPress. Different toolbars appear for different level users. Following is a list of preset user types we provide, and the pros and cons of choosing one or another.

BEGINNER USER:

Basic features access like adding and deleting news articles, adding images and using embed codes; we provide all other support within 48 business hours or it’s free.

Support level= 100% What does this mean? If you ever have a problem viewing or accessing your site, you pay nothing for our support. Good for one year.

INTERMEDIATE USER:

More access all around; ability to add/edit/delete the static pages as well as posts (news articles); user can adjust layout in many ways, and some sidebar features as well. Access at this level also depends on the actual features you choose to include on your site, and how advanced they are.

Support level= 80% What does this mean? If you ever have a problem viewing or accessing your site, you pay nothing for our support unless user error is a factor. Good for one year.

ADVANCED USER: Full access to all features, even the ones normally reserved for us. Access your CSS stylesheets, PHP files, layout your editable areas…you name it, we can make it happen.

Support level= 50% What does this mean? If you ever have a problem viewing or accessing your site, you pay nothing for our support unless user error is a factor, which is, in the case of our more feature-filled builds, not uncommon. Good for one year.

We also offer the “straight build” for the most advanced users, a discount applied in exchange for technical support on a pay-per-incident basis. Ask about this is you are a glutton for punishment.
